A woman “just wanted to know where the proofreader is for the paper.” She mentioned we had the correct day, but the wrong date, “and I’ve seen a lot of errors in the paper today.”
A man called about “a Mr. Rodriguez, and a certain player on the Madera South team not being recognized. It sure sounds like a parent. But if he’s the best pitcher in the NYL, for the Coyotes (Madera High) he would be just another guy in the leagues they play in. I’ve seen the kid pitch and know what I’m talking about. But to beleaguer a coach, it’s a team game not an individual sport.”
A man was “concerned about the parking situation at the (county) government center. It’s very nice, but every time I’ve been I’ve had to go up to the second and third floors to find a parking spot. It seems to me all the employees are taking up the parking on the first floor. They should be assigned spots on the second floor.”
A woman caller said, “The new youth center is very nice, but the late hours are going to lead to trouble. They close the doors at 8 or 9 p.m. and the kids hang around outside in the dark. Not too many parents pick them up, except for the little ones. I think the latest it should be open is 7:30, with parents required to pick up every kid. I didn’t think that place was built as a daycare center or babysitting service.”
“The I-5 high speed rail line would be the best,” said a lady. “This whole thing started between (former Fresno mayor Alan) Autry and (Governor Arnold) Schwarzenegger so it’s a very political thing to run the rail through the Valley. They could build a short line spur that could run to I-5, which would be a lot better.”
A man asked, “Do the citizens of Madera County have any idea what is going on at Juvenile Hall? Seven years ago the new Juvenile Hall was built because of overcrowding. Now they are planning to turn the facility into a boot camp. They only have 25 beds out of 60, the remaining beds will be used for the boot camp facility. Their reasoning is that they can house juveniles in the boot camp from other counties and make money. But other counties are just as broke as we are. So when a juvenile destroys your property or doesn’t commit a serious enough crime, they will be let back out on the streets.” He said, “please contact the (county) board of supervisors and tell them this is not an option. Juvenile Hall is more important than a boot camp.”
“What exactly is going on over at Madera County? asked a woman. “Furloughs, layoffs, and after a closed-door session, the CAO Rodriguez resigned. Or was he forced to? Maybe some of the (board of) supervisors should be forced to resign.”
An online contributor self-identified as Travis Taylor said, “I’d simply suggest that we are throwing mama from the train when we pipe it right down the middle of our county via any of the three routes. It is amazing to me that we have to worry about this HSR route whenever the state has more debt to deal with than the country of Greece, and possibly Spain too.
“If this were such a good deal, wouldn’t true capitalistic values and acceptance allow it to evolve?”

Well so much for me being able to keep my current health care provider! I just got notified that for the year 2011, what ever my employer pays on for my health care plan, it will be counted as income to me (which they pay 100% and one reason I took this job). I now cannot afford to keep my current policy, which I like. With paying my co-payments and deductible on top of higher payroll taxes, I must drop my coverage at the end of this year. My prescriptions will now cost me $300 plus a month where I now pay $60. I will have to stop taking them at the cost of losing my current level of health. Blood tests I need every 3 months will have to stop, $125 a pop. I agree something must be done about our healthcare system and it’s high costs, but I don’;t like the current plan. Obamacare just cost me my insurance! Thank you Nancy and Harry!

July 6 redline article on Little Leaque in which a complaining person talks about a player not being good enough to be on team was ridiculous for the Tribune to post…do you not care about young people? While the players name was not used it wouldnt be hard for others and the player to question is it me?
Seriously politics and favors in Little Leaque, high school sports has been going on since the start of time…if you dont like it get involved and volunteer your time as a Coach or Board Member…but please dont attack the kids because of your displeasure.
