Letter: He thinks that he shall never see … (Aug. 28)
He thinks that he shall never see …
Beware, Madera Driver, of the intersections in town,
the stop sign, invisible behind the tree that was sown
and others where the red light was blown.
The one at Cleveland, Club and the SP track
is enough to give you a heart attack!
You wait on Gateway to make a left hand turn,
they pass on the right with no concern.
Even on Caitlin they put in a circle.
The only thing that rhymes with that is maple surple.
A ride in the county is not much better.
The intersections are blind you can’t see,
cause of the row of Pomegranate trees.
You drive in the middle your front end goes “pop,” you look in the mirror and there’s a cop.
He says you can’t wander left and right.
I show him the “pot holes” and explain my plight.
He goes his way, and I go mine.
He’s driving in the middle but I don’t mind.
The road is not a road, it’s a border you see.
It’s a place to plant a tree.
The money is federal. Beautification is what it is, so therefore it’s free!
The roots grow outward and upward cracking concrete and asphalt.
Repair is a job for someone other than me. So this Arbor Day let’s cut down some trees!
I do enjoy trees but not in the middle of the road.
80 percent of the fresh water used in making concrete is lost forever.
You can get the gravel back but not the water.
Please plant responsibly.
Bill Hoffrage,
Madera
