Letter: Gang problems growing in Madera
Between the gangs and the tweakers, the small town of Madera is being taken over.
Part of my job is to go to all of our construction job sites a couple of times a day. In the past few months, the graffiti around town has gotten so uncontrollable, we are now having to clean our own properties daily.
This means we have a gang problem escalating in Madera.
Now, as the economy continues downwards trend, we are making too many “good people” go wrong by leaving our cars and homes locked with our valuables inside. I drove by North campus yesterday, and three cars in row had their front windows broken out.
We need to wake up our police chief, or ask Fresno police chief Jerry Dyer to help Madera, since Fresno is chasing these “good people” to the smaller towns.
Rick Farinelli,
Madera

Not all graffiti is done by gang members nor are all crimes committed by gang members….
Most graffiti gets cleaned up it seems daily. However, in the old downtown the stores have had graffiti above their signs and wall still in the same places for the last 3 months. The best building, the old professional building has it on one of the tall pillars. Country club also has new buildings tagged.
Then it is a shame that the walls of the new houses by Madera High are all tagged too.
Howard road also has problems with taggers.
ALL Taggers are cowards and low life scum.
If caught they should be stripped, tagged and marched through town. Then made to clean up their own mess!
Parents of taggers should be punished for their child’s actions too. Because they were not watching the little dips.
Graffiti abatement is far more lazy than you would like to think. I mean, what kind of people would, after visiting a school for a presentation(possibly on keeping the city nice and clean), drive past a number of walls that need to be cleaned without stopping? Should people always have to call them in order to get stuff done or should we keep Madera’s third world city status alive and well? I mean, we’re already so far behind many other cities the same size as us as far so who cares right?
Now, as far as far as the way businesses are and the way the city’s run: we need the old blood in Madera out and some new blood in I say . Maybe this way we will actually be able to get something done faster instead of having the same stuff and then nothing at all when it’s gone. Maybe we won’t have to wait what seems like forever to get good stores and other things that other cities our size already have had for a long while. Maybe things will be better managed and maybe I won’t have to go around Madera anymore and hear out of towners say how awful our city is. I hope we have the chance to find out…
(But if it doesn’t happen, you’ll know why everyone is still leaving Madera and it isn’t getting any better.)
these dum lil kids like those (WORD REMOVED) in (WORDS REMOVED) are just using taggin to cover the fact that there (WORD REMOVED) and (WORD REMOVED)
