I want to thank Bill Coate for “Pieces of the Past.” We enjoy them so much.

I have friend in Madera who has been mailing them to us.

I grew up in Madera. My mother and father also were born in Madera. My father, Edmund Murphy, was Postmaster in Madera for over 20 years.

The names Daulton, Montanare, Charles Faso, Barsotti, etc. are all people we knew well. My grandfather also owned a cigar shop on Yosemite Avenue, and they lived on D Street.
Coate’s articles are wonderful memories of past years in early Madera.

I’m in my late 70s.

I forward your articles to my sister, who also enjoys them. Please keep writing these wonderful articles for the paper.
