The strangely intriguing silent film below is one used to educate residents of Madera and Fresno counties about how to dial someone up using a telephone. The black and white movie — complete with text instructions, cartoons and live action — was meant to ease the transition from operator-assisted calling to direct dialing for local calls. Compared to some poorly executed uses of multimedia today, this little lesson does amusingly well.
